Too young to teach

for once, i wish that people would not look at my age, appearance, lack of powerful and celebrated connections, non-existent reference letters or modest qualifications, and give some credit to a willingness to teach—i wish they’d turn down my application for a teaching position by dismissing my poor portfolio or blasting me for poorly prepared courseware (or: a poor attitude even). but no, this is what i heard today, again: “you don’t have a master’s degree, and..
